CHARITY WORK

Damon Hill is a patron of the Down’s Syndrome Association, the Halow Project and Disability Africa.

Disability Africa

Damon is a patron of Disability Africa, another Surrey-based charity, which works to combat traditional negative beliefs held in many African countries about disabled people. Its programmes and projects are absolutely crucial, for disabled people in the poorest communities in Africa are among the most disadvantaged people on our planet, and Disability Africa promotes inclusion by developing a range of services to improve their lives. It delivered more than 20,000 child visits at Inclusion Projects across the African continent in 2022 alone.

The Halow Project

The Halow Project is based in Surrey, the English county in which the Hill family reside, where it helps and supports young adults with learning disabilities and autism. It was started in 2006 by the parents of five young people with learning disabilities, and it now supports more than 250 people, thereby earning a well deserved reputation as a leading charity for young adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Damon has been a hard-working and committed ambassador for Halow, taking the lead on a number of fundraising projects including gruelling cycle rides over part of the Tour de France course and organising the annual Damon Hill Karting Challenge.

Neuro UK

In 2024 Damon was appointed Honorary Team Captain for the Brain & Spine Foundation marathon team, as well as becoming an ambassador for Neuro UK. Fifty-six runners took part in a marathon and Damon tackled L’Etape, an endurance cycling event on the Tour de France course.

Down’s Syndrome Association

Damon’s son Oliver was born with Down’s Syndrome, and Damon has been vocal and powerful advocate for the Down’s Syndrome community ever since, speaking at events all around the world and organising a variety of initiatives, including many golf tournaments, with the support of other charity patrons. Through fundraising work done by Damon and others at the Down’s Syndrome Association, the charity is able to provide education, training, support, and advice to those living with, or affected by, Down’s Syndrome.
